concerning posts

I’m seeing a lot of concerning posts I would like to talk about. These posts sound convincing and like a great idea. They terrify me. Just because something sounds good, does not mean it is. Here are a few things I take into account when making my candles.

When you add Vicks vaper rub or oil, etc. you change the temperature of the wax to burn hotter. You add scent. Isn’t that the same? It’s close. I use scents for wax. I buy from businesses who make scents for this use. They come with guidelines. How much to use and at what temperature. It’s not random.

When you add cinnamon sticks or flowers they can become part of the wick. Igniting spontaneously from the heat. The larger the wick, the larger the flame. The larger the flame, the faster the candle burns and the hotter the wax.

Glassware can only handle so much heat before it cracks and brakes. What about Pyrex? Pyrex glassware is rated to 450°F. Like glassware, Pyrex is not meant to have direct heat like on a stove. All glass will break with direct contact to a flame. I place my wicks where I do is to prevent hot spots to prevent glass breakage. If the whole top of the glass is on fire, the class isn’t going to handle it.

Please be careful when taking advice from posts.
